An eye exam is necessary to assess the root cause of your dry eye so that we can prescribe the appropriate treatment methods. The symptoms of dry eye can present similarly to other eye conditions; self-diagnosing is not advised.

Our Optometrist, Dr. Abdulla, will assess your overall ocular health during your exam, including looking for any foreign bodies that may be the culprit of your irritated eyes.

Your treatment plan may include any number of the following options, as determined after your eye exam.

  • Lubricating eye drops, gels, or medicated ointments – available over the counter
  • Prescription anti-inflammatory oral medications, eye drops, gels, or ointments -Heat compresses and lid scrubs – guidance provided by our Optometrist
  • In office expression to open blocked tear glands
  • Punctal plugs – small medical device inserted in the tear duct to slow tear drainage
  • Specialty contact lenses can be fitted called scleral fits which can help provide relief
